(See Jane Run) Midnight Flight 2012

August 31, 2012 I ran in my second Midnight Flight 5K. My finishing time was 25.39 which was 50 seconds off my last year time. I was happy about that. What I was not happy about was that at one point, 20 minutes into the race, I stopped and walked for about 30-60 seconds. I was exhausted.

The thing was, was that I knew I was making great time. That I was way ahead of my time from last year. I also knew that for me to sprint through the finish line I was going to have to reserve a little of my energy. If I had kept on running, I may have been crawling across the finish line. After the race however, I started kicking myself for taking that little break. I started second guessing my strategy.

It wasn’t until the next day, when I saw where I had placed that I realized that stopping and walking a little was probably the best decision for me. I finished third in the Female Masters (age 40-49). Last year, I barely placed in my age group, 40-44, and won a cap for third place. This year, I was is the Masters and received a monetary prize. I wasn’t in it for the money. I was in it to see if I could beat my original time. And I did.

Below is a picture of my results. I’m the one in gray. Also see the video below. My mother-in-law and two grand daughters ran the 1 mile race. My daughter, Jennifer, ran the 5k with me. My husband was suppose to run but his knees started bothering him during the training so he had to sit this one out.

My husband did video tape us but apparently when I was running in, I was running soooooo fast that the camera couldn’t even pick me up so you will see my step-daughter, my mother-in-law and my daughter crossing the finish line but you will not see me, because I’m speedy Gonzalez and there’s not a camera invented that’s fast enough to capture me. Anyway, have fun watching.

Go Team SeeJaneSweat! Yay!!!
