A Track and A Hill…4th of July Workout

Happy 4th of July!!! I hope you are having a great holiday. I am. To start my 4th of July off, I decided, because the gym was closed, to head outdoors to get my cardio. Grabbing a bottle of water, a baseball cap and my mp3 player, I jumped in my car and headed to a local track. Because here, in SC, we’ve been experiencing temps as high as 107 degrees, I wanted to get my workout in before it got too hot so I wanted to get started early. But because I couldn’t make myself get out of bed at 8:00 am, I headed out around 11. When I got started, the temp was already 83 degrees. When I finished, an hour and 15 minutes later, the temp was 93 degrees. Not too bad.

For my workout today, I walked briskly around the track 12 times which is the equivalent of three miles. While doing this, I ran up and down the hill that surrounded the track for a total of 65 times.  By the end of the workout I was covered in sweat and sporting a tan. I also felt like I was ready to take on the world because I didn’t let a closed gym, high temperatures, or a holiday keep me from getting my workout. You don’t need a gym. You don’t need fancy equipment. All you need is a place to walk and a hill to climb and you can have a super workout even during the holidays.

How will you workout today?

Happy sweating.
